After running this blog for three months, I would like to consolidate my journey.
I have learnt that biodiversity conservation in cities is not as straightforward as it seems. It encapsulates many debates and considerations: from practical difficulties in rewilding to overlooked yet pertinent socioeconomic inequalities weaved into larger ecological discussions.
More importantly, I have learnt that cities, ironically, become instrumental in preserving the remaining integrity of our waning biosphere as natural habitats are increasingly threatened by urbanization. With proper biophilic planning, cities are capable of supporting an impressive diversity of flora and fauna. Everyone, from researchers and planners to ordinary residents like you and me, have a part to play in making our cities greener and wilder.
Biodiversity conservation has always been a passion of mine. As an aspiring urban planner in Singapore, my blogging journey has opened up a whole new world of possibilities to explore in biophilic city planning: to connect people with nature, and safeguard our biosphere.
The journey continues.
