Following my previous discussion on urban rewilding, check out this panel discussion by The Guardian with biologists Dr Rana El-Sabaawi and Prof Menno Schilthuizen on recent trends in urban biodiversity and how we can engage more with our urban wildlife.
In particular, this discussion covers interesting observations of evolution in urban biodiversity. Some species have evolved urban phenotypes that differ genetically from their rural counterparts, and some cities even discovered entirely new species in urban areas.
It also covers how recent lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic have affected urban wildlife and our relationship with them - which I will elaborate on in my next post.
